Tubes and stakes

These easy-to-use, recyclable tube tree shelters are made to protect growing trees from wildlife damage, meaning better initial establishment, higher survival rates and reduced growing and maintenance costs.

The Tubex standard tree shelter provides complete protection against mammals such as rabbits, hare and deer in a flexible, efficient, cost-effective way.

The rigid, twin-walled cylinders create an enhanced microclimate for trees, resulting in better initial establishment and higher survival rates, enabling the planting of smaller trees with stronger roots.

This makes them a great choice for saplings of taller species, as well as for use in forestry and open planting. They’re also perfect for protecting trees that are vulnerable to heavy browsing from larger animals, and for helping individual trees grow tall.

Features:

  • Stake: supports the tree as it grows.
  • Twin wall construction: creates a microclimate inside the tube that accelerates growth.
  • Flared rim: minimises stem abrasion.
  • Break line: prevents tree strangulation.
  • Optimal transparency: allows the correct balance of light wavelengths to be absorbed by the tree, a process known as photomorphogenesis.
  • UV stabilised: provides an estimated lifespan of five to seven years.

Available sizes:

Stakes: 1.3m x 25mm x 25mm untreated.

Tubes: 1.2m long x 73-105mm in diameter.

Step one: Plant the sapling and place the tube over it, gently pushing the base into the ground.

Step two: Slide the stake down through the cable ties and hammer it into the ground alongside the tube.

Step three: Pull the cable ties tight around the stake to make the whole guard secure.

After five to six years, or once your tree is established, you can dismantle and recycle the tree protection.
